The Best Part 1: Jane Says
Many things are the worst. This is my attempt to find the things that are the best.
‘Jane Says’ by Jane’s Addiction is perhaps the best song ever about the person you named your band after.
For as long as girls like Jane will exist - which is of course, forever - there will be boys who will write songs (or poems or novels or movies) about them.
Boys want to save girls. Boys who write songs have no illusions they can save damsels in distress from the train tracks. But boys who write songs like to believe they can save girls from themselves.
So boys construct Janes in their hearts and minds. And she both breaks out hearts and saves our lives. Jane in the song that is. Jane in real life just breaks out hearts.
